Threads and their varieties

Threads are the main type of material for connecting, creating or decorating textile products. In addition, threads can be used as a finishing material. This is the general name for thinly twisted material that has a small diameter. Threads are produced on spools, rigid paper sleeves, in skeins, bobbins.

Threads are divided into three main types:
• natural;
• synthetic;
• mixed.

Natural threads are well known – cotton, linen and silk. Threads of unnatural origin have many more varieties: polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, viscose and polyurethane. Mixed threads are different combinations, for example, cotton with acrylic or polyester.
According to the fiber composition, the threads are divided into: cotton, silk, synthetic, artificial and staple. According to the structure, there are the following types: twisted, single-threaded, reinforced, textured.

Reinforced threads (they are frame threads) – the base and braid of which are made of different types of threads. Textured - voluminous, elastic, incredibly pleasant to the touch.

According to decoration and color, threads are produced: black, white, colored, glossy or matte; cotton - mercerized.
Monofilament threads are also becoming more and more popular – colorless, polyamide-based, treated with special optical means that allow them to take the shade of the fabric.

The quality of threads is characterized by their strength, elasticity, stretchability, balance of twist, evenness, strength of dyeing, appropriate degree of whiteness and absence or presence of external defects.

In order to preserve the appearance and quality of the products, it is necessary that the threads correspond to the properties of the main material in terms of strength, elongation and shrinkage.

Threads are not allowed in the package:
• A mixture of different numbers;
• Coloring with stripes;
• Fuzziness throughout the coil;
• Soft winding;
• Overcrowded winding with falling turns;
• Omissions or discarded threads throughout the package.
